Custom Color Matched to Your Paint Code
We use your vehicle's factory paint code to mix your custom color.
Factory paint codes provide the original color formula for your vehicle, but the paint on a vehicle can change over time due to sun exposure, weather, age, previous repairs, and normal wear. Because of this, custom-mixed paint is intended as a blendable match rather than a guaranteed exact match to the existing paint on your vehicle.
For the best possible result, blending the new color into the surrounding panel is recommended.
We also recommend spraying a small test area or test panel before applying the paint to your vehicle.
What Can Affect the Final Color?
Even with the correct factory paint formula, the final appearance can be affected by:
- Vehicle age and sun exposure
- Previous paint repairs
- Factory production variations
- Primer or surface color
- Spray technique
- Spray distance and application
- Temperature and humidity
- Existing paint condition
These are normal considerations with automotive paint and are not unique to aerosol application.
⚠️ TRI-STAGE COLOR DISCLAIMER: If your paint code is a tri-stage/3-stage color, you will require 2 aerosols/touch-up bottles per color — 1 Basecoat + 1 Pearl/Mid-Coat — to achieve the correct color. This is especially common with pearl whites and pearl reds. The basecoat and pearl cannot be combined into one aerosol or touch-up bottle. Basecoat alone will not match the finished vehicle color.
